Ever say something and immediately want to take it back? Why do we try to hurt the ones we love with words?

I try not to say things that I'll regret later because it takes more time to apologize then to actually say it. I yelled something nasty about my ex boyfriend's mother. Let's just say I stopped doing so after the argument we had.

I have been in a situation where I called the man I was dating "selfish" for not giving me what I wanted at that very moment. Although he has given me much more things that I can't even count, just because I was angry and frustrated I lashed out at him. He told me he was very hurt by it especially coming from me, and that made me feel even worse. As I get older I am trying to think before I speak as well as take a quick minute to calm down before I say something I may regret.

We try to hurt the ones we love with words because it is just easier to do. People rather use words then their hands.
